Prof. Dr J.J Busschbach
Prof. Dr. Jan Busschbach is a psychologist at the Erasmus Medical Center and has been working in the field of transplantation from 1990 on. He was one of the first to formally assess quality of life after lung transplantation and has worked on refining cost effectiveness models in kidney transplantation.
From 2002 onwards he investigated the psychosocial barriers in living donations. Settling such psychosocial barriers is unavoidable linked to ethics. For this reason his psychological work in transplantation is accompanied with ethical explorations.
His research as also involves the effectiveness of psychotherapy in families and trauma patients. This research has strengthen his believe that the complicated interaction between the patient and the living
(potential) donor can be dealt with in save and an efficient manner, with respect to the positions of the individuals involved. He is one of the founders of ELPAT-platform: Ethical, Legal and Psychosocial Aspects of Organ Transplantation in an European context.
Dr Connie Davis
Dr. Davis is a professor of medicine and specializes in comprehensive Kidney Care and Transplantation. She is the medical director of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant program at the University of Washington Medical Center. Dr. Davis has been a member of the board of directors of the American Society of Transplantation and is a current member of the Public Policy Committees of the AST and American Society of Nephrology. She has been on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, American Journal of Kidney Diseases and Liver Transplantation, and is listed in Best Doctors in America. She has authored over 30 articles, 15 reviews and 7 book chapters.
